What is in the contractor insurance pack

The cover sheet is the first page of the zip. A test run of ten documents came back with a count of valid, expiring, expired and review-needed files, plus the types that had no in-date copy. The full list sits in index.csv. The files sit in folders by type, so a broker is not opening a desktop dump.

That cover sheet is the front of the contractor insurance pack. The zip behind it is what you forward.

A typical pile includes public liability, employers’ liability, fleet and tools cover. Tickets and cards: CSCS, SMSTS, first aid, CPCS. RAMS and method statements. Vehicle documents: MOT certificates and insurance schedules. Waste notes and old broker emails often land in review, because a date could not be read with confidence.

Employers’ liability is a legal requirement for most firms with staff. The official note is on GOV.UK. RAMS are the job-specific bit a principal contractor asks for before a crew starts. HSE’s construction pages cover method statements. We do not write those for you. We sort the ones you already have.

Who it is for

UK contractors who have just won work and do not have a tidy file. Housing repairs, scaffolding, roofing, civils and groundworks, usually on jobs from about £80,000 to a few million. The office is one person, the certificates are in a folder, and the broker has asked for everything by Friday.

It is not for a main contractor that already runs a document system. Kier, Balfour and firms of that size already have a compliance team. If your pile is already labelled and in date, you do not need this.

It is also the wrong tool if the problem is unpaid extras rather than insurance. That is a different door. This one is the file a broker, a principal contractor or a framework auditor will actually open.

How it works

You pay on the tool, not on this page. You sign in with the company email, then upload PDFs or one messy zip. Photos of certificates are accepted. We read the type and the expiry where it is printed. You get the contractor insurance pack back to download. You check the cover sheet before you forward it.

Expired files stay in the pack and are listed as expired. They are not hidden. Missing types are named on the cover, so you can see the gap before the broker does. Review-needed means a date could not be read, not that the document is bad.

This is a snapshot. Dates move. A ticket that is valid in October can be dead in February. We do not watch the file after you download it, and we are not your broker or your insurer. You still decide what to send.

What happens next

If the broker will ask again, the same files can be kept in the Renewal Room. New certificate in, dates watched, a fresh zip when they ask. That is £1,997 to open and £197 a month. Unpaid months pause the download.

Work that was done and never reached an invoice is missing bills. Photos and messages that should have become a claim are the claim pack. Start here if a broker is waiting. The other tools are for the leak after the file is accepted.
